Navigating Aerosol Capture - Part 6 - Achieving Perfect Vacuum Balance

Thank you for following our series on capturing aerosol within the dental operatory. So far, our series has discussed how sizing your vacuum appropriately will ensure you capture roughly 90% of generated aerosols created in the oral cavity. Today, we will discuss the next step in aerosol capture, extraoral suction.

Extraoral Suction

BaseVac was not quick to jump into the extraoral industry, as we had our reservations on many of the products currently available on the market. We landed with ULT because we believe in the science and technology behind the quality and function of their units. UTL is only the extraoral system we saw on the market that addresses one of the biggest concerns of Dental Professionals, bacterial and viral control, more specifically, how to catch it and kill it.

RegBox

ULT has a device called the RegBox, a system used to help make the material inside the Extraoral devices inactive. In addition, the RegBox extends the filter lives, reducing the ongoing costs.  With a heat-treated system, the virus or bacteria captured and potentially growing within the filter system is killed and safe to remove without fear of contamination.

The RegBox is ideal, as it addresses the bacterial and viral buildup concern that is had with extraoral devices. In addition, it pays for itself as it prolongs the filters in the system, allowing for a more cost-effective and less labor-intensive system. BaseVac and ULT both do not recommend the use of the RegBox on other extraoral devices, as other systems may not have the same abilities to handle the RegBox's heat treatment. BaseVac / ULT cannot accept the liability of the use of our products with other non ULT products.
